About Us

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sardar Patel Institute of Technology considered the need to enhance the quality of technical education so as to enable graduates to successfully meet the challenges of the 21st century.Keeping this need in mind, IR is established to bridge the skill gap between institute and industry.

The key challenge faced by the engineering education today is the need to constantly adapt to the changing requirements of industry. The IR is also established to identify the expectation and need of the industry and accordingly promotes institutional preparation for meeting those needs by facilitating seminars, workshops, research and Development project, and various other industrial training programs.

To improve student’s mobility and capability of accepting the Today’s Industry need further cause of their absorbance in the Industry or Research Institute, it is necessary to integrate this expertise if needed in the academics.By looking at these rapidly changing requirements of industry, the objective of this Industry Relation Process is to provide the socially relevant and professional industry environment which will encourage overall development of a student.

Roles of IR-Cell
  • Role 1:
    • To encourage faculty/students for conducting/attending the STTP / Workshop for bridging the gap between academic and evolving trends in the industry.
  • Role 2:
    • To plan Industrial Visit for students with an aim to go beyond academics with a practical perspective on the world of work.
  • Role 3:
    • To continue a connection with the Alumni by arranging an Alumni Meet on the selected date by the Institute.
    • To maintain and analyze Alumni feedback of all departments, for identifying the scope of academic improvements.
    • To collect and maintain the Alumni database with TPO.
  • Role 4:
    • To collect and submit the details of Interns selected through TPO.
    • To maintain a long-term synergetic relationship between institute and the industry for student community at S.P.I.T. through Live Projects offered in various domains.
    • To guide students and Faculty for undertaking Industry oriented and research oriented projects.
  • Role 5:
    • To work and collect the information regarding Consultancy Project comprising multidisciplinary, inter departmental or extensive institutional facilities.
    • To record MoU and Work order copy for the said consultancy.
    • To work in close liaison with T.P.O. and R & D committee, S.P.I.T.
  • Role 6:
    • To inspire entrepreneurship among students by hosting various events for aspiring entrepreneurs and support them by providing necessary resources such as seed funding, mentoring, consultancy and networking.
    • To work jointly with Training and Placement Officer (T.P.O), S.P.I.T. for academic and Industry related activities.
    • To arrange Mockup placement activity for all department jointly with Training and Placement Coordinators of all department.
  • Role 7:
    • To provide training and placement information of all companies visiting to S.P.I.T to Dean (IR).
    • To provide details of all selected Interns by TPO to Dean (IR).
    • To collect the Employee/Industry feedback from the various recruiters and send department wise data to Dean (IR) for further analysis.

  • To establish alumni connect and therein develop industry relations
  • To identify the expectations of industry from institute and pass on this feedback to other deans for possible implementations

  • To act as link for providing internships to students
  • To assist in placement activities

Dr. Dhananjay Kalbande

Dean (Industry Relations)

Dr Dhananjay Ramrao Kalbande is currently a Professor and Head, Computer Engineering and Dean(Industry Relations), Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Andheri (West),Mumbai, India. He has completed B.E. in Computer Technology from Nagpur University in 1997 and Master of Engineering in Information Technology in May 2005, from Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology(VESIT), Mumbai University, Mumbai, India. He has obtained Ph.D in Technology from University of Mumbai, Mumbai in 2011. He has been awarded as a Post-Doctorate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences(T.I.S.S.) in 2016.He is also associated with T.I.S.S. as a Senior Research Fellow on the NCW-TISS Project,funded by National Commission for Women,Govt.of India. He is having over 16+ Years of experience in teaching & research. His research interests include Soft computing (Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic),Computer Network,Human Machine Interaction Decision making and business Intelligence,Mobile application development for social cause., ICT for semi rural development for social cause. He has authored the three books namely Graphical User Interface(Pareen Publications), MIS(Pareen Publications), Human Machine Interaction(Wiley Publications), Digital Forensic(Wiley Publications) for Engineering Graduate students.He hasdelivered and conducted the workshop plus seminar talk on NS2,Neural Network,VB.Net and ADO.Net.
